It's All About Karen Day!

Yeah for me!!!! It's Lisa Henke here today, and I get to share all the fabulous things I learned about Karen this week. I love Flatter Day Saturday, It's so fun to learn a little more about my fellow DT members and you'll be glad you stopped by. So today is Karen's Day! I really love this girl's style! Check it out!

I got a chance to ask her a few questions about who she is and what her crafting process is like, so enjoy reading some info all about Karen Maldonado:
  • Tell us a little about yourself. I’ve lived in sunny California all my life, and I’m happily married to my best friend for the past 21 years. My daughter attends college and my son will be graduating from high school this year..oh my!! I love to travel, shop & crop with my friends, or spend my spare time either card-making and or scrapbooking. I feel like I am a great cook, but my husband would think otherwise, just kidding, as he is the Chef…so it’s hard to outdo him!!

  • How did you first get involved in stamping?
Many years ago, a girlfriend and I decided to attend a local Rubber Stamp Convention, and the rest is history. I can recall when we used to buy little strips of wooden blocks, and think that was a great way to save money to mount our rubber stamps! Now, I look forward to just buying rubber and storing without that wood bulk!

  • What is your stamping style?
You know, I think it varies on the stamps an papers I am using to create my design! I love shabby chic, vintage, and anything 3D!
  • Tell us about your creative process
I love to search the internet, magazines, and even clothing to inspire me on what to create!! I jot things down in a little book I carry in my purse, or snap a quick photo of perhaps colors, shapes, sketches that I see when I am out and about!

  • What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
That’s really difficult for me, truly…I am thrilled with every Spring 2010 release that came out! I love that I can mix and match any of these sets together, but then again..we can do this with any {ippity} set, and come up with something totally different!
  • How often do you stamp?
I would say at least 5 times a week, and sometimes on the weekends if I go to a crop! It may not be start to finish, but I am always thinking and/or sketching in my book of what I want to try to make with my stamps!
  • How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
Sometimes, it comes quickly, and other times it can take me up to an hour or so to complete! I tend to sometimes create and modify my original thought as I go along, which lengthens the process. But, as long as I am happy with the end result…it’s all good!
  • What does your craft room look like? {messy, clean, etc.}
I must admit…it is usually what I call a “creative mess”, but there is some organization to my supplies. I usually clean up before the weekend, so everything is back in it’s place until the next week begins!
  • What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
    Trying to create without layering!!

and a few questions just for fun!

  • What is your favorite quote?
I love so many different ones, for different reasons..but, here is one to share:
We can do no great things; only small things with great love. – Mother Teresa
  • What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Lets see..fresh strawberries, lots of vegetables, whole chicken for dinner tonight..and some leftovers from last night! And, even a few candy bars!
  • What would your dream vacation be? To travel to Europe again! I’d love to see Italy, Greece, or Spain!

Thanks so much Karen for letting us get a glimpse into who you are and what you do! Here are two more fabulous projects by Karen.

Man, I loooooove what she has done with these new Spring Papers Ippity has available. Great layout and the perfect touch of distressing-super shabby chic! and then there is this beauty! LOVE the scalloped edges and those butterflies-both a great compliment to that awesome sentiment!

Thanks for stopping by today and everyday! We can't tell you how much we love your sweet words and uplifting comments. Be sure to take a moment and stop by Karen's blog to see more of her fabulous creations.

Hugs, Lisa
