Think Pink!!

Hello and Happy Hip Hop!!

You have made it to the last stop on today's Hip Hop!!

And did you have fun seeing us FLIP FLOP on the HIP HOP today??

The Unity girls used Ippity and the Ippity girls used Unity!!

Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the winner from this week's
Hippity Hop Comment Prize from Monday!!

Today I have a project for you and a little tutorial on how I made it!

It follows the theme for this week's HIP HOP which is about

Encouragement in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness

The Ippity Stamp set used here is from Delightful Little Things!

You can read more about my inspiration for this project on my own blog.

But first I would like to share with you how I created the decoupaged plate above.

My inspiration came from the multicolored tissue paper that came in a Victoria Secrets bag.

The hearts on their tissue paper reminded me a little bit like the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon!

Before you can get started, please collect the following supplies...

You will need:
Tissue paper
Mod Podge
Water
Foam brush
and the object you are decoupaging.

Step One:

Rip the tissue into multiple strips

Step Two:

Apply glue to the side of the object you will be applying the paper to.

Step Three:

Place strips one at a time onto the glued areas and reapply glue to the top of the strips.
Continue until the whole object is covered.

Step Four:

Overlap the strips until it is opaque and unable to be seen through.

Step Five:

Allow the decoupaged area to dry completely.

Step Six:

Carefully trim the edges of the object with a sharp blade.

Step Seven:

If desired, add a coat of paint to the backside of the object to improve its' opacity.

Then decorate the front and you are finished!!!

Fresh Idea Friday

Hello there and happy happy Friday to you all!!  I have a fresh idea that I wanted to share with you today!!  Can you tell what it might be already??  Well..I won't hold you in suspense any longer...

Did you know that I made these flowers out of COFFEE FILTERS? Yep, that's right!!  I had a super fun time pulling out my coffee filters from the cupboard and spraying them with different shades of glimmer mists.  And, of course, I just had to highlight this super fab sentiment that comes in the ippity " DELIGHTFUL LITTLE THINGS" stamp set by popping it out with Helmar Zapdots!!  I've added some lace for a delicate touch, the striped paper and the flourish papers are from Graphic 45, and have been lifted just a tad off the card to give it a little flair!!  The card base is a Silhouette die cut card base that I cut in black and then layered another piece in Kraft on top!!

I got a little carried away, as I sometimes do, and made some more flowers in different styles & sizes.  There are the bold yellow, blue, and orange rolled type flowers, and then the ones that I made on my card today..don't they kind of look like little carnations? (smile) What I really love about these flowers is they look so delicate (and would perhaps be frail or possibly tear), but no way...they are actually pretty strong!!  So, to me..they look like tissue paper, but they are not!! These flowers have all been Glimmer Mist (the one in the center has two colors mixed together), but I could see even maybe tea-dye or even using coffee as a dye on your filters would make for a beautiful vintage look.

Well, that about wraps it up for me today!  I feel like I need a cup of coffee now.. Uh oh..do I have any filters left??  Hope your weekend is fun!!  Give these a try, 'cause I think you will have fun playing with COFFEE FILTERS to make all different kinds of flowers for your ippity cards or projects!!
