For Monday's Hippity Hop I challenged everyone to create something to help RING in the NEW YEAR!
What I find rings true to me each year is that it is a time for me to work on myself and find ways to be a better me!  Then I started noticing how Ippity ( and Unity) have so many wonderful quotes that are so uplifting and inspiring.  So I thought why don't I make myself a "Quotes a la Happy" book filled with some amazing Ippity quotes that I can read as often as I feel the need to be reminded about being a better person.
So that is what I did!!
I made my own little book of Ippity Quotes!!

I had a cute little accordion album that I found forever ago that was perfect for this project.  And now when I open it up, I am filled with Ippity Inspiration that helps me keep my attitude "right where it should be!"

How About a Frame?

Happy Hip Hop and Happy Thursday! It's me again, Lisa H. with you today.....hope you're not tired of seeing me here, LOL! It seems like forever since I've had a chance to post and then this week I'm here 3 days.....I guess it's like the 'ol saying......when it rains it pours. Usually I say this in reference to bad things, BUT there is nothing BAD about being here with {ippity}!!!

I ♥ this place!

and I looooove this project I've got to share with you all today. I had a plain wooden frame ($1 from Micheal's) sitting in my to-do pile, and I had this new paper, Indie Girl, waiting in the pile on my floor and of course all the new release {ippity} stamps stacked next to my desk all just waiting to come together.

Here's a quick HOW-To. If you have never altered a frame, let me tell you it's EASY and relatively quick to do. If you are looking for a last minute gift for someone special, this is always a HIT! That makes this fit our Hip Hop theme for the week-quick Holiday gift ideas. I spent a little over an hour creating this, and that takes into account drying time for my paint and modge podge.

Gather your materials: frame, modge podge, paper, stamps, ink, twill, and other embellishments.

Step 1: trace the shape of your frame on the backside of you paper. Make sure you check your patterns so you have them running the right direction (see my music notes......I forgot to do this, lol! oh-well!).

Step2: Cut out paper, distress edges (kind of helps hide any imperfections) and check that it fits your frame correctly.

Step3: use corner rounder on all corners

Step4: paint sides of frame. Don't worry about it being perfect, I like to just just paint enough to cover the natural wood, again leaving it a bit distressed helps blend any imperfections.

step5: stamp your images, cut them out, and then lay it all out on your project to get a feel of what you want the finished product to look like. step6: cover all paper pieces with modge podge, both front and back. this will act as the adhesive to the frame (put a coat on the wood, too) AND give your project a protective coating!

Today I have a project for you and a little tutorial on how I made it!
It follows the theme for this week's HIP HOP which is about 
Encouragement in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness

The Ippity Stamp set used here is from Delightful Little Things!

You can read more about my inspiration for this project on my own blog.
But first I would like to share with you how I created the decoupaged plate above.
My inspiration came from the multicolored tissue paper that came in a Victoria Secrets bag.

The hearts on their tissue paper reminded me a little bit like the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon!
Before you can get started, please collect the following supplies...

You will need:Tissue paperMod PodgeWaterFoam brushand the object you are decoupaging.
Step One:
Rip the tissue into multiple strips
Step Two:
Apply glue to the side of the object you will be applying the paper to.

Step Three:
Place strips one at a time onto the glued areas and reapply glue to the top of the strips.Continue until the whole object is covered.

Step Four:
Overlap the strips until it is opaque and unable to be seen through.

Step Five:
Allow the decoupaged area to dry completely.

Step Six:
Carefully trim the edges of the object with a sharp blade.
Step Seven:
If desired, add a coat of paint to the backside of the object to improve its' opacity.
Then decorate the front and you are finished!!!

I'm back today to show you all the deets for my Boo'd Box from Monday.

I'm using the {ippity} stamp set That's Creepy and Love in Return to decorate the box.  The journaling stamp from Love in Return is perfect for Halloween cards or pages.

Have you heard of being Boo'd? 

It is a fun Halloween game where you leave some goodies for your neighbor with a little poem to encourage them to do the same for another neighbor.  This year I decided to create a little Boo'd Box for my co-workers.  They are a crafty bunch and I think they will get a kick out of it.

Here is the Boo Poem I used.

This treat is for you, we hope you enjoy.
The idea is simple, one we hope you employ.
You pass "BOO" along to 2 other friends.
Along with any kind of Halloween favors.
If we do our part to spread the fun,
By Halloween night it all be done.
We're a friendly bunch,
So please do your part to keep
"BOO" on the run!

I plan to fill it with some yummy Halloween candy.

I found the tutorial for this box HERE.  Maria Bell has fabulous written instructions so why try to rewrite perfection. 

But, I would love to show you how I made this project in the video below from start to finish.  I always find watching someone make something is easier on my brain.  Plus, I share some tips I learned along the way and how the decorations came to be.  So, I hope you enjoy it.

It's Kelly again today and I am back with a follow up post and Tutorial related to my Hippity Hop Post on Monday!  Remember this project I showed you for our Back To School Hippity Hop Challenge (IHHC39)?  

 

           

Before it was adorned with Ippity stamps from the House a Home and Quotes a la Happy stamp sets, along with some cute paper, it started off looking like this...

                  

This notepad holder was purchased from Michael's a while back, but I was able to figure out a way to recreate it and I wanted to share it with you!  They are so easy to make!  And the best part about it all is that they are very affordable to make too!!

I went to my local Staples Office Supply Store and found the notepads (3x5) and mini pens in sets of 12 each and my total bill at the store was only $12.07.  So that's basically $1 per Notepad/Pen set.  (Plus the cost of any embellishments you add to them!)  So that is very affordable!!!  Right??

How would you like to learn to make one of these from scratch?  

Are you ready to get started??

Here is the list of supplies you will need...

• Scratch pad and mini pen
• Kraft cardstock or Designer Paper (1 sheet of 8.5 x 11)
• Paper trimmer
• Score Pal (or score blade for your trimmer)
• Glue stick 
• Red line adhesive
• Exacto knife
• Ippity stamps and embellishments of your choosing

Step 1:  Cut the long edge of your cardstock at 5 1/8th (5.125) inches.  (If you want to stamp directly onto your paper, now would be a good time to do that.  Or you can add embellishments after it is completed.

Step 2:  Place the long edge of your trimmed paper at the top left hand corner of your ScorPal and score it at the 3in., 3.5in., 4in., and 7.5in. marks.

Step 3:  Fold the score marks you just created.  Make a valley fold at the 3in mark, a peak fold at the 3.5in mark, a valley fold at the 4in mark and a peak at the 7.5in mark.

Step 4:  Create the slot that will hold the pen.  From the top of the Notepad holder, measure down 1 inch and cut a slit between the fold lines at 3in and 4in.  Now cut another slit as before 1 3/4in from the top.

Step 5:  Reverse the fold on the section you just created with the slits.  This creates the section that the pen will slip onto.

Step 6:  With the right side facing up and the front flap at the far right, place adhesive on the section at the far left.

Step 7:  Fold the flap (following the valley fold up and onto the middle section.  You now have a reinforced bottom with two layers of paper.

Step 8:  Turn the Notepad Holder over so you are looking at the inside now.  Using red line tape, place a strip all the way up the inner spine closest to the base section.  Cut away the portion of tape where the slot is.  Remove the backing and fold the spine onto the base of the Notepad Holder.

Step 9:  On the back of the pad of paper, apply three lines of red line adhesive.

Step 10:  Remove the adhesive backing off the red line tape and affix the paper pad to the inside of the Notepad Holder's base.

Step 11:  Fold the front flap over the paper to close the front cover.  Insert the pen into the holder.

Step 12:  

Decorate your Notepad Holder 

with Ippity stamps!!
