Good Morning Everyone.. welcome to Flatterday Saturday
We are going to get to know one of our Canadian Ippity Chicks better.
Vicki Garrett
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m from Kingston, Ontario which is about halway between Toronto and Montreal. I’m a single mom to a very active teenage boy and work full time in a Federal Prison facilitating Treatment Programs for Federally Sentenced Men. I really enjoy my work, but it can be stressful at times, so stamping and creating is essentially my therapy! In my limited spare time, I teach approximately 3-4 paper crafting classes per month and am part of severalpapercrafting Design Teams.
How did you first get involved in stamping?
I’ve always been crafty and about 12 years ago, got into scrapbooking. When a friend brought some stamps and inks to work one day, I was totally hooked!
What is your stamping style?
I would say like my personality, my stamping style can’t be defined by one certain style. I’m still figuring what I want to be when I grow up….lol. I do know that I love to colour and so I tend to be partial to line art.
Tell us about your creative process.
Usually I start with my stamps and then build my idea from there……….. I will then find complimentary Cardstock and Designer Paper and lastly add some embellishments to finish the project off.
What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
I absolutely adore Love in return. I enjoy it’s versatility and used it several times over on cards, mini albums and scrapbook pages.
How often do you stamp?
I would say that I stamp at least 3 times per week on an average. That slows down over the summer when I enjoy spending time out on the lake fishing, swimming and enjoying the sun!
How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
I spend approximately 45 minutes to an hour on a card, Scrapbook layouts take me a little longer and of course mini albums? I can spend days on those!
Check out this beautiful Mini Album ...
What does your craft room look like?
Tidy for but a fleeting moment! I can tidy my room up and after making one small project, it looks like it’s been hit by a cyclone!
What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
The biggest challenge for me is finding time to scrapbook…….. I am years behind on my albums and I love creating layouts……… hoping to get caught up when I retire from my full time occupation in eight years!
What is the name of your Ippity Sales Blog?
{Ippity} Stamps Canada
What made you decide to start selling Ippity?
I like to offer my students an opportunity to purchase high quality stamps and quite often, people like to repeat some of the projects that they are learning, so Ippity is perfect for me! I don’t have the time to commit to companies that require minimal sales requirements and I love the flexibility that Ippity offers in regard to being in control of my business opportunity. I have found that people are very impressed with Ippity stamps, the variety of stamps available and the quality of the deeply etched rubber.
Tell us about your experience selling Ippity
At this time, I’m mainly selling Ippity to my papercrafting students, however as part of my longer term plan, I hope to take the business to a different level as I see it as a very viable option in terms of complimenting my salary.
What song best describes you?
Born to be Wild………lol…….i’m not sure of what song exactly, but I know you’d probably need a double album to describe me!
If you were stranded on a desert island what are the three things you would bring?
My Ipod (can’t live without my music) or my guitar, My guy Paul and my stamping stuff
What is your favorite quote?
A closed mouth gathers no feet! ………sometimes it’s more beneficial to listen than to talk……..you can learn so much more~!
What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Some Spring Salad mix that needs to be thrown out, leftovers, Diet Pepsi and Old Cheddar (two of my main staples) , condiments and lots of fruit.
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Just passing through, but enjoying the ride~!
What would your dream vacation be?
I’ve had the opportunity to travel a bit over my lifetime, but on my bucket list is a lengthy trip to Australia and New Zealand.
