That's How Thursday!

HaPpY HiP HoP!!!

It's Eva here today and as promised I am sharing a tutorial with you on how I created my card from Monday's H{ippity} Hop!  Are you ready for this "Monsterous" Tutorial???  ROFL...You'll see in a minute what I mean.  But first, in case you didn't see the card I am talking about, here it is.

So, let's get started!!!  And first I have to say thanks to Michael for being so nice and giving me his can of Monster drink after finishing it, as without that, I would have no card to share with you today..hehehe.  I guess I could have bought a sheet of metal, but why do that, when I had a perfectly fine metal can at home.

So, here are the items you need for the metal embossing and don't be afraid to try this at home...hehehe.....it's really easy.  Get your soda can and an embossing folder.  For my card I used a Tim Holtz folder that I have been wanting and just received and LOVE!

Next you need to carefully cut apart your soda can so it is semi flat.  At first it will be very insisting to curl up, but once you put it through your embossing machine I promise the embossed part will stay flat and this is what it will look like.

For the next step you will need to cut out the embossed metal image and get a bottle of acrylic paint out, for me, I used an ivory color, but it will be fun to experiment with different colors in the future, so try whatever color you have!

Ok, so promise not to laugh????  My project was so low budget, I didn't even have a foam brush at hand...and I was not about to go to the store for a foam brush, so guess what I used???  I just used a paper towel to smear the paint on my metal.  Just make sure you get sort of an even cover in the image everywhere, or at least most of the places.  Here is what it will look like.

And as the final step I just use an old nail file that I saved up for this kind of purpose to file off the paint from the protruding parts and this is how the final metal piece will look like.

Well, that is it...how FUN is this????  Will you try your hand at it???  Sure hope so.  Make sure you share your metal projects at our current Ippity challenge thread on Splitcoaststampers.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial and if you haven't started the hop at the Unity blog, I promise you don't want to miss out on the eye candy, so please hop back to the Unity Blog!

I think the gallery was packed with more stunners than usual...you all are creating like crazy with your {ippity} :)I've always been a bit of a school supply nerd...my love affair with binders never went away. Oh and sheet protectors...I LOVE sheet protectors :) This school card from {Susan} caught my eye immediately. I love the rulers, the apples...the stamps ;) I LOVE the warm fall colors of the paper {Vicki} used for this beauty. The leaf peeking out of the bottom of the postcard is such a cute touch....I just adore those polka dots leaves :)WOW...is what I have to say about this snowman card from {Julie}. I love all the silver accents on this card and the red is such a great pop color. It's about the time to think about Christmas cards...wouldn't this be PERFECT :)I don't make tags near enough! They are such a great special touch to brighten up a gift and this beauty from {Savannah} is STUNNING!! The big bold flower and the stitching are gorgeous!!Now look at this super cute card from {Suzanne}!!!! All the glitter on this baby made is jump out of the gallery. This would either be the best forest in the world to have a picnic in or these could be the CUTEST lollipops....I haven't shown this set near enough love but this was the best inspiration EVER :)
Love the colors, love the paper, love the piercing and the buttons.....yep it's official....I'm in LOVE!! All the shades of blue with the bit of yellow is just perfect. {mamamostamps} really created a beauty here.

ippity Blossom Flatter-day: Carisa Zglobicki

Hello there! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday...
it's me Karen, and ...
I am THRILLED to be flattering our very own

Ippity Blossom
"CARISA ZGLOBICKI"

Today we are  gonna  learn more about our FABULOUS ippity Blossom Carisa, and continue to see more of her AWESOME ippity projects!  So, here we go...

General Questions

o Tell us a little about yourself. {Family, location, background, job, kids, etc.}
I live in Colorado now but grew up in Florida. I have been married nearly 10 years to my high school sweetheart & we have 3 kids, Tolla is 5, Teagan is 3 and Trey is 6 months old. I work from home & dream of one day owning my own papercraft online store!

Stamping Questions

o How did you first get involved in stamping?
A friend invited me to a SU! party just before I got pregnant with my first. I loved it of course, but then really didn't think much more about it and just did it here & there when she was a baby. After my 2nd was about 2, I found this amazing little community called SCS, found an amazing stamp company TGF that happened to be local and the rest is history I suppose. I fell in love with coloring images with Copics! My collection is S-L-O-W-L-Y growing but I finally broke into the 100's this week with my latest copic order! LOL

o What is your stamping style?
I think it's widely varied, I just love ALL styles so will give it a try if something appeals to me. Right now, I'm into distressing a lot, I love tearing and inking edges. But I also love working with CAS cards as well. I think that is what drew me to {ippity} is that I needed something opposite of coloring images - I need variety in order to keep interest. Hmmm, maybe I have stamping ADD.....

o Tell us about your creative process
Oh my goodness, my creative process is as scattered as I am! LOL Sometimes I start with PP, then pick out my image and color. Other times it's the complete opposite & I'll start with coloring an image & then hope to find PP that matches!! I almost ALWAYS use a sketch though. It really helps me to visualize what I want my card to be.

o What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
I absolutely LOVE Moon Beams & Heart Strings - I've been making TONS of baby cards & gifts with it, like I shared with my Ippity Blossoms project.

o How often do you stamp?
I stamp almost EVERY day at various times when I can catch a few minutes here & there. Somedays I just color & then the next day I'll create the card. On really good days, I'll get from start to finish, LOL, but if I don't take a few minutes to at least sit at my craft desk at some point, I feel frazzled!

o How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
I take a really long time coloring, but if I'm not doing very much coloring, I can usually be happy with something in 30 minutes.

o What does your craft room look like? {messy, clean, etc.}
Oh my goodness, my desk is a mess!!!! As is my closet. I keep saying if only I could get those really great organizing cubbies, I'd be good, but who am I kidding?! LOL It's a creative mess, that's for sure.

o What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
Thinking outside the box. I see people do some amazing things & think to myself, why didn't I think of that! LOL

{ippity} Chicks

o What is the name of your Ippity Sales Blog?
Ippity Chick Carisa

o What made you decide to start selling Ippity?
I saw my friend posting about being an ippity chick and I was like, hmm, what is that? then I saw the stamps & thought OMG, I MUST do that!!! So, I did!

o Tell us about your experience selling Ippity
It's been slow for me, I've had a few internet sales here & there but the best part of it is meeting all the other amazing other chicks & being inspired ALL.THE.TIME. I love that & I'm looking forward to focusing more on building my business by doing craft fairs this fall & trying to network with my daughter's school now.

Just for FUN Questions

o What is your favorite quote?

A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water. by Eleanor Roosevelt.

o What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
Stuff that needs to be thrown out! LOL

o What would your dream vacation be?
Just to go to a really posh hotel anywhere in the world and hole myself up there to relax & sleep. LOL One night of uninterrupted sleep would be a dream!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Fresh Idea Friday

Happy Friday everyone!!!
I hope it is the beginning of a beautiful weekend.

September is a busy month for birthdays in my world.  I barely kept up with all the cards and if I had any stashed, they are all gone!  Time to start building up for next month.

I saw some handmade candles somewhere a little while ago.  I wish I could credit the place I saw them.  Thank you whomever you are for the sweet inspiration.  I really think they are too cute.

And super easy.  Just cut a strip of paper the length you would like your candle.  Start wrapping it around something pretty skinny (I used my paper piercer).  It doesn't take much paper and then use some liquid glue to hold it closed.  Add another drop of glue to the inside and stick your "wick" in (I used some burlap string).

A combination of the Fall for You, Quotes a'la Happy and House a Home {ippity} stamps sets created the Happy Birthday saying and heart.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Need some Ippity???

on to my TUTORIAL for the day...
don't you just LOVE embellishments that you can create all from supplies you already have stashed in your craft room?
we'll  i've got one for ya today...
paper rosettes!

is it too early for halloween?
typically i wouldn't even THINK about halloween quite yet...but i found some fun halloween inspiration as i was blog surfing and decided to make some treat bags.

they are SUPER easy and can be made with ANY SIZE paper...
really all you need is
PAPER & GLUE...
but i wanted to add in some {ippity}.
let's get started...

1....
cut 3 stips of paper -
here i have used 2 x 5" strips cut from a paper bag.
i then STAMPED each one with dots for sure
for my treat bag today i am just making a small one...
but like i said, you can make them ANY size you like.

 2...
i wanted my embellishment to have a vintage "distressed" look,
so i added some tim holtz distress ink...

3...
fold each one "accordian" style

4...
then FOLD each one in half to get a nice crisp fold
add hot glue {or adhesive of your choice} to the center
and press each side together to adhere
my little tip...the hot glue works awesome because it dries so fast!

5...
add more glue to one of the ends...

 6...
adhere two of them together...
then add the 3rd one.

7...
add more adhesive...
and then "close" the rosette so that it forms a full circle.

and...
WAH...LAH!!!
 add any coordinating embellishments
for the PERFECT finishing touch!

i also used the journal box from that's creepy

oh AND i ran my little paper bag through my cuttlebug to
give the bag a more vintage look...
and, well, just to add a little character.

SO, what do you think...
do you see PAPER ROSETTES in your craftin' future?

THAT was a FUN hop today...

Upcoming craft fair events: Columbine Craft Fair in November

Tips or advertising ideas Carisa's learned along the way: Always bring up your hobby when meeting new people, you never know who will share the love of papercrafting! I have met a mom in my daughter's kindie class that makes cards & am excited to share ippity with her!

Now, check out these adorable one-of-a-kind Onesies that Carisa's made using ippity stamps!!  I love it when we can share the story behind creations...so here's a little of what Carisa's shares with us about these NEW & FABULOUS projects she's created...

For my project, I made some hand stamped onesies for my daughter's kindergarten teacher as well as a gift bag. My favorite being the Fishy Onsie because when she told me her nursery theme was Dr. Seuss, I just KNEW I had to use "Fishy Philosophy" for her! I absolutely love how it turned out. And the gift bag was something I've been wanting to try and finally worked up the nerve. Now that I've done it once, I can't imagine buying another gift bag (other than plain ones to alter) again!!
