Flatterday Saturday - Lydia Fiedler

I am so honored to be able to introduce to you Lydia Fiedler. She is no stranger to the stamping world and anyone who hangs out on Splitcoaststampers probably knows her name. She is the community manager on SCS and is just as sweet as can be. I was lucky enough to get to meet her at CHA but only for a brief moment....she was running a very busy booth!
Lydia is responsible for adding {ippity} chicks into the private chick forum on SCS and also uploads photos from the gallery onto Facebook. She is a huge part of keeping {ippity} moving on SCS and we couldn't be more thankful for that.
So without further ado...her she is :)
Tell us a little about yourself
My husband Paul and I live in Austin, TX with our two rescued kittens - Maddie & Splotchy. After past lives that include Slavic linguistics and nearly 20 years as an executive in the construction industry, I now have my dream job as the Community Manager of This job combines the three things I love the most - people, art and technology. Some days I have to pinch myself! The people in the Splitcoast community and in the papercrafting industry are the most brilliant and creative people I've ever worked with, and I find it extremely energizing to be a part of it. In my spare time, I stamp, of course, participate in animal charity work and enjoy the great outdoors in our beautiful city.
How did you first get involved in stamping?
I've been a crafter since I was in Brownies, and I vividly remember trying heat embossing over our gas stove when I was in junior high, and I was forever changed!
What is your stamping style?
I'd say quirky and offbeat. Visually, I'm mostly clean and simple, but I'm a technique addict, so I try everything.
Tell us about your creative process
100% of my creative process takes place away from my studio. I have ideas on my daily walks, when I am falling asleep, or when I'm just doing daily tasks. I have to formulate an idea nearly completely before I sit down to make something.
What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
Absolutely Fishy Philosophy because when I saw it it instantly reminded me of one of my favorite childhood books - Swimmy by Leo Lionni

Take a look at this STUNNING creation she made using her favorite set...isn't it beautiful! How often do you stamp?
Every day.
How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
Usually about an hour, but sometimes 5 hours!
What does your craft room look like?
I try to reacquaint myself with the surface of my desk about once a month.
What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
Sewing - I can't sew! I want to mail all my cards to someone - have them sew them and send them back to me!
What song best describes you?
The Star Spangled Banner
If you were stranded on a desert island what are the three things you would bring?
Every Bruce Willis movie, stamps and bacon.
What is your favorite quote?
"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" - Pablo Picasso
What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
LaCroix lime sparkling water, a metric ton of cheese and Hebrew National hot dogs.
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
Giggling :)
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
"Life after D-hall - why you should never get in trouble for laughing."
What would your dream vacation be?
I have always wanted to go to Ireland and see where all my ancestors came from.

    Loved the Q&A!

Although, I have to say I'm surprised she wouldn't bring coffee (specifically Sbux) on her trip to the island. I guess bacon trumps coffee.

  5. I had the pleasure of serving on the Dirty Dozen DT with Lydia and was always blown away with her talents and unique style.
