A Day to Flatter Joslyn Nielson!

Hello and Good Saturday Morning to ya!

This is Kelly here today, and I don't know about you, but my head is still spinning from all the amazing excitement and fun that we had during our New Release sneak peeks and Party this week!!

I love the new sets!! I am so motivated and inspired to ink them all up and have some fun creating with them! While there are many stamp designers who have contributed to the new sets this release, there is one artist in particular who was responsible for many of the new stamps and sets that came out this week!!

And she is exactly who I have the pleasure of flattering today!!

Let me introduce you to
Joslyn Nielson

If you are no stranger to Unity, then you have certainly see other work of hers in Unity stamp sets.  She has been a designer for Unity for a while now.  You may also have had the pleasure of visiting her blog on Friends With Flair Hops.  Joslyn has a wonderful style and a fun blog to read too, so if you haven't already added her to your blog list, you should check her out and visit regularly.  She is an amazing inspiration with a wonderful flair in her work!  Click on the name of her blog below to visit it...

Joslyn was kind enough to take the time (on rather short notice--sorry Joslyn!) to answer some questions for us and let us get to know her a little better.  I sure hope we get to see a lot more of her work in the future... she is a great designer!  So take a moment and learn a little more about Ippity's new stamp designer, Joslyn Nielson!

General Questions
Tell us a little about yourself.  {Family, location, background, job, kids, etc.}
·        The husband, kids, and I live in Ut..  I love being at home with the kids and I love the journey that life with them brings.
·        I have been crafting/painting/creating for most of my life.
·        My first love was painting with watercolors and that has grown into a fascination with all things paper, ribbon, ink, jewelry, photography, and now illustration.
·        My brain does not rest.  When I create I feel complete.

Stamping Questions
·        How did you first get involved in stamping?
·        It pretty much went like this.
·        Stamp party (13 years ago)
·        Stamp Instructor
·        Design Team
·        Designing stamps

What is your stamping style?
·        I am a clean and simple gal but I love the details!  I always have to add a little
extra something.

Tell us about your creative process
·        I am a color girl.  I always go for my color first.
·        Oh and I NEVER have a plan. I am a create on the fly type.

What is your favorite {ippity} stamp set and why?
·        I can’t pick. Don’t make me do it.
·         The funny thing is when I create a stamp or set I become attached.  I guess they are a part of me in a way.

This is a layout that Joslyn made using Unity stamps.
She is still waiting on her shipment of Ippity stamps too!

 How often do you stamp?
·        Usually everyday or every couple of days.

How long does it take you to make a project you are happy with?
·        I am usually fast 10-20 min a card.  Scrappin takes me longer 30-60 min.

 What does your craft room look like? {messy, clean, etc.}
·        I like it neat and tidy; I have a hard time being creative in a mess.
·        I am not saying it is always tidy J

What is your biggest paper crafting challenge?
·        Definitely the journaling on my layouts.  Obviously I am not great with words.
·         It’s all visual for me!

And here is one of her favorite cards that she has made and was willing to share with us!
This one also uses Unity stamps!!

For {ippity} Stamp Designers
What stamp sets have you designed for Ippity?
·      I am happy to have a few sets that are in the new release.

House a Home
So This is Love
Bitty Pixie Paisley

Tell us about your background/training in art or drawing
·        I don’t have any training in art, drawing, or illustration.
·          I pretty much dove in and taught myself.
·         There were lots of tears from frustration but it was all completely worth it.
·         It has been a long process but something I truly LOVE.

From where do you draw your inspiration for your designs?
·         I am ALWAYS on the prowl.  I take pictures on my phone everywhere I go and then I go to my phone when I need ideas.
Flowers are my love.

How often do you draw?
·        Daily.  Usually at night.  Often I get up from bed in the night and draw.

·        I need 5 things or I can’t be stranded.

What is your favorite quote?
·        Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult - once we truly understand and accept it - then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.   ( M. Scott Peck  The Road Less Traveled

·        Sleep in.
·        Some good food.
·        Hang with the family.
·        A little more shopping J

Lastly can I just say I love seeing my art used as part of your creations. I love visiting your blogs and seeing the stamps come to life!!!  You all inspire me!

Thank you so much Joslyn for sharing a bit of your life with us.  It makes using the stamps from Ippity a bit more personal when we feel we can connect to the person who designed them.  We appreciate your contributions to Ippity and look forward to seeing more of your designs!!
